The Choice Gas Program allows customers to purchase their natural gas commodity in a competitive marketplace. Customers can choose a third-party supplier from a list of participating natural gas commodity suppliers based on the pricing option and service that best fits their needs.  

Natural gas is still delivered through Black Hills Energy’s infrastructure, and they’re responsible for any service or maintenance emergencies. Black Hills Energy is also responsible for mailing your bill.  

Once enrolled, your selected price option and supplier will begin with usage on June 1, 2025, and will appear as a line item on your Black Hills Energy bill.  

You received a control number in your 2025 Choice Gas customer packet mailed to you from Black Hills Energy. If you cannot locate this, you will need to retrieve your control number by calling 877-245-3506 or visit choicegas.com

The 2025 Choice gas selection period is April 3 – 23. Once enrolled, your selected price option and natural gas commodity supplier will begin with usage on June 1, 2025, and will appear as a line item on your Black Hills Energy bill.  

If a selection is not made on or before April 23, you will default to your current natural gas commodity supplier and price option. Although your price option will stay the same, the price you pay may not be. This is why we recommend making a selection when eligible to choose a natural gas commodity supplier that offers price options that fit your budget and needs.
