Step 1: Enter your account number
- Your Black Hills Energy account number is located at the top right-hand corner of your bill.
Step 2: Review price options and make your selection
Step 3: Confirm your selection and enter your control number
- You received a control number in your 2026 Choice Gas selection packet mailed to you from Black Hills Energy. If you cannot locate this, you can retrieve your control number by calling 877-245-3506 or visit choicegas.com
Once enrolled, you will be removed from supplier marketing communications within 24 hours.

We offer a range of natural gas commodity price options for both residential and commercial customers. Your natural gas commodity is influenced by two key factors—your usage and market conditions. Below, we explain how each price option works and how our price options can help provide greater stability and predictability for your energy bills.

What is the Choice Gas Program?
The Choice Gas Program allows customers to purchase their natural gas commodity in a competitive marketplace. Customers can choose a third-party supplier from a list of participating natural gas commodity suppliers based on the price option and service that best fits their needs.
Natural gas is still delivered through Black Hills Energy’s infrastructure, and they’re responsible for any service or maintenance emergencies. Black Hills Energy is also responsible for mailing your bill.
Once enrolled, your selected price option and natural gas commodity supplier will begin with usage on June 1, 2026, and will appear as a line item on your Black Hills Energy bill.

Our Price Option Terms & Conditions:
1. Guaranteed Fixed Price Option: The commodity price shall be the agreed-upon fixed price ($/Therm). Subject only to a material change in the tariffs of the upstream pipeline, the fixed price is guaranteed for the term of the agreement.
2. Guaranteed Index Price Option: The commodity price shall be the Platt's Inside FERC first of the month price for CIG plus the agreed-upon market premium ($/therm). Subject only to a material change in the tariffs of the upstream pipeline, the index price is guaranteed for the term.
3. Secure Fixed Price (Fixed Monthly Bill) Option: This offer is our 'Fixed Monthly Bill' offer. The agreed-upon price will be the total monthly charge to the customer. Subject only to a material change in the tariffs of the upstream pipeline, the monthly price remains consistent for the term of the agreement. A $150 termination fee shall be charged to exit the program prior to the end of the term. The customer agrees that WoodRiver has the right to terminate the deal if the customer materially alters the type and amount of usage at the premises (e.g., a new addition or an additional furnace).
