Opened in 1988, McCoy’s Family Restaurant has become a staple for classic diner food in Denver. Whether it’s their chicken-fried steak or unforgettable cinnamon rolls, the eatery has been devoted to serving patrons with tasty, comforting food, which earned it Westword’s Best 24/7 Restaurant award in 2017.

The Challenge

As if running a restaurant with more than 40 employees wasn’t challenging enough, chef and owner Bob Holloway had to consistently check the temperatures of his food storage. This was made even more important as he keeps over $20,000 in inventory in his six coolers and freezers.

Furthermore, in a large older building, the employees would often start changing the thermostats but forget to change them back. Either they were leaving the HVACs on nonstop or continuously switching them on and off.
